Branch Members, I am sad to inform you that Denis lost his battle with Cancer yesterday, altough he was not a member for very long the club meant a lot to him, even with his health failing he tried to get on as many rides and attend as many meetings as he could. He will be sadly missed by his wife Cheryl and family and by our branch family.
Details of the funeral will be given when known.

Saw Denis yesterday and he was pretty zonked out. Ambulance took him in for re-assessment to Ipswich Hospital. Saw Cheryl this morning and they"ve taken him off Morphine which was causing the problems. He has asked for Cheryl to bring him in a coffee and computer mouse so it sound like goodish news. He is much brighter and is expecting a scan and hopefully home on Monday.

Update on Elaine from Warwick District Branch.
She is demonstrating a great internal strength by maintaining her health. She has been in an induced coma since the accident for her safety. During that time they have done some critical operations on her wrists, spine and face. She still has to endure a lot more in operations to repair her other wrist etc.
On a very positive note, they brought her out of the induced coma on Sunday for a little while and during that time she was able to communicate with her husband by blinking yes or no. Demonstrating her memory is intact which was a godsend.
Also, she was able to move all her extremities so the greatest fear of paralysis due to spinal damage has been averted. In a nutshell, she is doing fantastic at this stage but prayers, wishes and miracles are still needed.
Please continue to keep Elaine high in your thoughts and prayers as she is still far from danger and has a long journey to travel.
Thank you goes to Savaugn Pratt for keeping me and many others in the loop taking the direct stress off Les and the Warwick Branch.

Hi Guys, can we please remember that we need to respect other members of the Branch. Couple of instances recently that don't sit well with me and hopefully are 'one off's'.

A huge congratulations to Spook for being acknowledged by the National Committee as a worthy recipricant of Telemuchus Medal number 116. Spook has been a great ambassador for the Ipswich Branch since our inception 6 years ago and I thank our branch committee for putting forward the nomination for him. The Telemachus Medal is awarded by the National Committee for services to a branch and is a very prestigeous award. The Ipswich Branch now has three holders of the T.M. The first being our founding webmaster Konrad Walter's number 55 and Amanda Pamenter the branch founding Secretary number 57. I myself was awarded TM number 27 by the Lockyer Branch for 8 years service including the role of President. So having 4 members from a branch that is barely 6 years old is quite an achievement. There are others in the branch who are so very deserving and have not been nominated yet so there is expectations that this branch will go from strength to strength with the strong contingent of volunteers we have.

I just wants to say thank you for looking after me when I had some tire problems far away from home.
I'm in trouble now. Anni think I have been naughty. She reckon I rode like a maniac and the flat tire was one of my punnishments.
To my defence, I was just trying to keep up with the ride leader.
Anyway, we made it home with a few stops to pump up the back tire.
Thank you Sue and Peter for taking Anni and our stuff all the way home to us. Oh - and Anni don't wanna ride with me anymore so if someone wants a back seat space on the next few rides, then I have one avaiable.

As some of you may be aware at each National AGM there an invitation to each Branch President / Coordinator, Secretary and Treasurer to attend the Extended National Committee (this year in SA on Friday 11th of May).
fyi: The Extended National Committee meeting is an official meeting of the National Committee of the Ulysses Club Inc. and is an ideal opportunity for committee representatives of each Branch to meet fellow Branch Committee members and to be involved in the processes and discussions of matters of importance relating to the club.
Unfortunately none of your branch commitee are attending this year, but your commitee decided to have representation and have asked Jay and Bev to attend on our behalf and feedback to the commitee what they find out.
This year the National Committee have asked for members to provide some feedback re: attracting new members and retaining existing members.
If you have some ideas and want to share them with us please respond to this blog
I will collate the responses and we will give them to Bev and Jay to hand over at the meeting.
Thanks a lot Amanda

From NATCOM March Intercom - just in case you missed it.
"Annual Membership Option
You asked for it and the National Committee is pleased to announce that members can choose to pay for their membership on an annual basis rather than three years up front, while the three year membership remains. The annual membership renewal fee is $40 and will be available from 1 April 2018 (no, this isn’t an April Fools joke…)"
